HUMAN FRUITS, VEGATABLES AND NUTS THAT ARE DANGEROUS TO YOUR PET
In addition to being diligent about dog food comparisons we also need to beknowledgeable about human foods that are dangerous to your pets. The following is a list of such foods:
Cooked bones of any kind – can splinter a dogs internal organs
Grapes and raisins – can cause kidney failure
Broccoli – in large amounts can make your pet ill
Onions – destroy red blood cells and can lead to anemia
Chocolate – can cause seizures, coma and even death, especially Bakers chocolate or dark chocolate
Corn on the cob – parts of the cob may block the digestive tract
Coffee and coffee grounds – anything that contains caffeine may have the same symptoms of chocolate
Tea and tea bags – anything that contains caffeine may have the same symptoms of chocolate
Raw eggs – can cause samonella poisoning
Tomatoes and tomatoe plants - can cause heart arrhythmias and tremors
Avocadoes-the fruit, pit and the plant are all toxic - can cause heart and digestive problems, difficulty breathing and fluid accumulation in the chest, abdomen and heart
Liver in large amounts – can cause vitamin A toxicity
Milk – difficult to digest for some dogs
Macadamia nuts – contain toxins that cause weakness, muscle tremor, panting and paralysis
Walnuts – may contain fungus and mold that cause drooling, jaundice and lack of coordination
Animal fat and any type of fried foods – can cause pancreatitis
Fruit seeds – apples, cherries, peaches etc. contain cyanide and could get lodged in the intestines
Nutmeg – can cause tremors, seizures and death
Alcohol – cause blood acidity, difficult breathing, coma or death
Xylitol is deadly – even a trace is similar to arsenic in pets – could cause liver failure and death
Splenda – could be toxic
Mushrooms – can be deadly
Sugar – could make your dog ill
Corn Syrup – could make your dog ill
Excessive salt – can cause kidney problems
Cold cuts – these are high in nitrates and can lead to kidney and digestive problems
Tuna – can contain mercury and small bones
Greasy fatty table scraps – can cause pancreatitis – creates excessive digestive enzymes. Dogs may display bloody vomit, dehydration and even death
Pennies – are not a food but are worth mentioning – those dated after 1981 are made with a copper coating – just one can cause zinc poisoning and suffer red blood cell damage
