If u reside in an apartment and have always wanted a pet dog but think that apartments are not the perfect homes for dogs then may be you are not totally correct. Different breeds adapt to different lives. For many breeds a large back yard is a must but there are many breeds that live happily with a small yard or no yard at all.

There are many pets who get along really well with children and many who don’t. You need to select the right breed to suit your life in an apartment.

Some breeds are known to be lethargic and some are high on energy. Both kinds of breeds can suit themselves to apartment lives. The lethargic pet may not need much exercise but it still needs to be taken out for walks to prevent health related problems. ‘High on energy’ dogs also need to be taken for long walks in order to keep it healthy.

When living in an apartment you need to provide your pet with the right diet and attention. Your pet grows up into a personality similar to the family it lives with. It might grow into a cranky aggressive dog if not given proper attention in its growing years. Another dog of the same breed may grow into a perky and happy dog if given the right treatment in its growing years.

There are a few breeds that have been marked ‘suitable’ for apartment lives. You need to go through a list of those breeds and check out the characteristics of each breed and select the one you think would suit your way of living. You also need to consider the time you will be able to spend with your pet. Some breeds can stay aloof for longer times than other breeds. Some breeds tend to get aggressive when left alone for long periods of times and may cause problems to the kids living in the house. Similarly some breeds of dogs are good to other pets and kids and some are not. So you can select the safest breed of dogs to choose from if you have children with you.
